Copper Dawg is four friends who have been playing music around Marin and Sonoma counties since the 70's.  The drummer and guitarist are brothers from the Novato family band Zelot, and the keys and bass are from the Novato band Afton.  The two bands were rivals during the age of Aquarius.

Since joining forces in 2016, the new band has had a fifth member, the trusty and reliable studio dawg Copper.  From the beginning, there was talk of naming the band Copper Dawg, but whenever we would ask Copper if it was okay, he would just say "Can I have another Greenie please" and avoid the question altogether.

In 2020, Copper was forced to retire for health reasons, and the four remaining members decided to go ahead with the name.  We still like to remember good ol' Copper stretched out in his regular spot between the kick drum and the bass amp... apparently he was fond of the lower frequencies.
